Nasty crash in US.

This happened on the NJ Turnpike at the toll booths.

http://www.flicklife.com/81920c872c1..._explodes.html

The accident was fatal, the driver had been having seizures earlier in the day and it probably lead to this. Impact speed was estimated at 65mph using the time taken to cross the road markings.

Now look at the reaction of the following drivers.

The estate that goes through seconds later pulls up on the left, two more cars pull up and I guy gets out doing what I'd be doing; calling the services and going to see if assistance can be given at the booth (although I know better from experience than to get that close to well-alight cars). /EDIT It's possible that the first person out of the car might have been with the services.

But what does the off-roader that comes by do?

looks like he was going a lot faster than 65mph.

judging by the cop car pulling up behind straight after the impact, i'd say he was being chased by them.

TBH, I'd block the road off.

You'd have to be a ******* moron to pass the gate when there's a car well alight under the structure. Better that the services only have risk their lives pulling one charred corpse out.

The trouble is, the world is just full of ******* morons these days.

I think I'd do the same, or at least if I was on the motorway and had the option of bypassing a pile up where I'd see something that would scar me for the rest of my life, I'd try and avoid it. I didn't watch the video, but there's nothing that can be done there by me I suppose.

Except catch yourself on fire.

If you've seen a few cars burning, you'll know how far an exploding tyre can splash burning fuel.

Yeah, you don't think of those things. Toxic smoke does more damage.
The real danger to F1 drivers is sitting in petrol, it does more damage to the skin, as being in a fire does nothing if you've got a fireproof suit on.
